Merry Christmas & Happy New Year From HMA The Benefits People
"If You Are More Fortunate Than Others, Build A Longer Table Not A Taller Fence."
The quote above truly embodies our giving spirit not only at Christmas but the whole year through! With that giving spirit in mind, we are excited to share that on behalf of our clients, friends and community, our team rallied together to sponsor 15 families in need through Dear Santa, supporting Rose of Durham and Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre. For most of these families, this sponsorship means so much more than presents under the tree and is simply about being able to have warm clothes and the necessities of life for their family - with the joy of opening gifts on Christmas morning being the cherry on top. The most common asks on the wish lists included:
- Winter clothing (hats, mitts, jackets, boots, warm clothes)
- Hygiene product (shampoo, deodorant, body wash, razors, toothpaste)
- Functional items (bed sheets, pots & pans, heaters, humidifiers, etc.)
- Gift cards (grocery stores, gas cards, craft & kids stores)
- Children's items (learning toys, books, bunting bags, diapers, wipes)
For others, our sponsorship means extra special Christmas memories shared with a terminally ill family member who may not be here next year. In both cases, we are truly grateful and fortunate to give back to our community on your behalf.
But the giving doesn't stop there. Over the past few years, our staff has become very fond of another annual charitable tradition. Each November, we work with suppliers to coordinate a purchase of hats and mitts for local shelters and community groups. It warms our hearts to share that this Christmas we gave 900 gifts of warmth to some of the most vulnerable members in our community.
May your holiday season be filled with merry memories and your New Year filled with good health! Merry Christmas!
