HMA is an ESSENTIAL business and during the Covid19 Pandemic we have been busier than ever helping our clients navigate through this tough time. This position will be located in our Whitby offices.

What you'll be doing:

Your goal in this position is to support the Sales Consultants (Group and Life) with business acquisition requirements using your expertise in a variety of industry products (Group Employee Benefits, Life/Living Benefits, Group RSP/Pension etc.).

In this role, you will also be able to shine by showcasing your outstanding attention to detail and love of assisting the customer! You are a liaison, responsible to coordinate benefits and manage requests between clients and carriers while ensuring all tasks and activities related to individuals or clients’ Group Employee Benefits are completed accurately and on time.

On a practical level you will be responsible for:

Client Service

Direct clients on how to complete change requests or assist clients with accessing information related to their file

Train (or coordinate training through Carrier or TPA) clients on Plan Administrator Portal to complete plan administration tasks

Document files summarizing client activity using our brokerage operating system and other computer-based programs (HubSpot, TAM, Excel etc.)

Assist Consultants with scheduling HMA client meetings

Quoting - new business and plan amendments for existing clients

• Ensure data/information supplied is accurate for quoting purposes. Obtain missing information and request Consultant intervention if required, confirming direction on follow-up and who owns task

• Ensure data is submitted and follow up for quotations from underwriters and carriers

• Prepare proposal/comparisons documentation as required

Implementation

• Assist clients with the implementation of employee benefits plans once documents are received from the carrier – this involves educating the client on online resources, access to their plans and ensuring their employees receive their drug cards and booklets

• Coordinate Employee Information sessions as required

• Prepare Group Employee Benefits Kits

Financial Tasks and Reporting

• Track claims/audits for ASO clients

• Track new business and terminations in-house

• Confirm accuracy of rates at first billing following plan renewal 

• Enter various financial data on in-house reports (ie. rate sheet, face page, etc.)

Sales & Marketing

• Enter various financial data on in-house reports (ie. rate sheet, face page, etc.)

• Attend prospect and/or client meetings as required

This is a full-time, permanent position based out of our bright and cheerful Whitby office. You will work Monday to Friday, and will receive a competitive compensation package, commensurate with experience and performance. What makes you an ideal candidate:

• Minimum 3 - 5 years of progressive experience in a group benefits insurance/consulting environment

• Solid working knowledge of employee benefits insurance industry

• Understanding of government regulations for the financial services/insurance industry and knowledge of industry affiliates and regulatory bodies; some knowledge of Employment Standards Act and labour laws

• Strong client service acumen, with empathy/sensitivity to client situations and concerns

• Superior relationship development and communication skills

• Excellent organizational abilities

• Strong attention to detail • Must be adaptable and flexible

• Demonstrated ability to be a leader within your role, with problem-solving and analytical skills, allowing you to make sound and well-reasoned decisions

• Willingness to embrace the organization’s core values • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

• Ability to prioritize and organize effectively in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to communicate at various levels, with various stakeholders, via phone, inperson, in writing, and email

• Ability to maintain confidentiality

• Proficiency with personal computer and software applications (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

• CEBS or any other Industry Related Designation is a definite asset

• Life licensed is a definite asset
